As a WORSHIP TEAM, we ought to present a UNITED FRONT,
that is a natural extension of TRUE WORSHIP in our lives.
As individuals, with hearts that adore JESUS and who “seek first His KINGDOM and His righteousness“, we will gather corporately and worship in UNISON. There will NOT be any conflict of motive or purpose, NOR any clash of direction or destination. Every heart will serve, sing and make a sound harmoniously, bringing glory to the Lord, whilst ministering to His people.
Psalm 133 says the Lord commands a BLESSING where there is UNITY. The blessing is “life evermore” and is a fully smothering ANOINTING … Woo hoo!
In 2 CHRONICLES 5:11-14, when the singers and musicians were CONSECRATED and SANCTIFIED, with INSTRUMENTS in hand, they made a SOUND that was in PERFECT HARMONY. They made ONE SOUND.
Hundreds of singers and musicians made ONE SOUND, PRAISING and THANKING the Lord!!!
“For He is good, for His mercy endures forever”
How true this is …
“come taste and see that the Lord is good”
When you’ve tasted the goodness of God and experienced His mercy, you can’t help but give Him praise and thanks.
In this true place of worship, as musicians, our agenda means very little, except to serve the Lords plan and purpose within His church. Even our musical STYLE and VISION should serve the greater VISION and PURPOSE of the church and it’s leaders.
In Psalm 51:16-17 we read that God delights in a “BROKEN SPIRIT” (not our will but HIS be done), as well as a “broken and CONTRITE HEART” (our Father in Heaven, hallowed be YOUR NAME). This is a sacrifice worthy of GOD.
The sacrifice He desires is OBEDIENCE – 1 SAMUEL 15:22-23
Our worship should be OUTWORKED through JUSTICE and FAIRNESS – AMOS 5:21-24
Romans 12:1-3 provides us with great insight into ‘New Testament worship’.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (NKJV)
The NLT says …
“I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
The Message put it this way …
“Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.”
Really, what else can WE DO FOR GOD?!
All we have are our every day lives … and that’s all He wants.
When our sacrifice/offering/worship is OUR LIVES, then we will KNOW and PROVE the PERFECT WILL of God for our lives.
And when we bring THIS to the team,
we will make ONE SOUND of praise and thanks that will RESOUND and bless His holy name!!!
